AROHA 2010 is an exciting new beginning. Mingling amongst the festival’s Māori and Pacific arts, there is a large Asian presence this year – with Japanese dancer Shakti, Indonesian dancer Alfira, and Chinese visual artist Zheng Bo.
My new tribal pop opera, Pō, is our gala opening event. The APO will join me on the Aotea Centre main-stage to perform music by Gareth Farr – including that first, fierce Takataapui haka from the ‘92 HERO Party – with guest singers, international dancers and aerialists!
Auckland’s first cabaret festival, Kapai Kabaret is back, with exciting and enlightening acts from Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne, Wellington, Kaikohe, South Auckland and Tasmania. Don’t miss Tess Tickle and Polly Filla’s late-night revue, featuring beautiful boys, gorgeous girls – and Carmen!
As the festival winds up, AROHA Day will bring the life and colour of Carnival to Beresford Square on Saturday 20 March. All you K’ Road Queens and whānau, this is your day! Plus, we’ve hand-picked a selection of fantastic parties, including AROHA After Dark – the festival’s hot and sexy adult dance party – where we’ll get it on safely and dance until dawn
